Welcome to my studio
I'm Sophia Williams, an impressionistic oil painter capturing the distinctive light, atmosphere, and wildlife of the North Norfolk coast. Based in my Stiffkey studio, I create original paintings that evoke the sweeping skies, golden beaches, marsh harriers, and tranquil marshlands that make this landscape and its inhabitants so extraordinary.
Experience my work
My paintings need to be seen in person to truly appreciate their texture, depth, and luminosity. While you can browse my collection online, I invite you to:
-
visit my Stiffkey studio by appointment to see current works in progress
-
explore selected pieces at VinedMe in Walsingham, where you can enjoy a glass of wine while viewing my art
Digital photography can never fully capture the nuanced brushwork and layered colors of original oil paintings. To arrange a personal viewing, email me at thesophiawilliams@gmail.com.
Available paintings
Browse my current collection of original North Norfolk landscapes and wildlife paintings available for immediate purchase. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, created using oils on either canvas or board, and ready to bring the essence of Norfolk into your home.
From the marsh harriers at Cley-Next-the-Sea to the sunset glow at Blakeney Quay, each painting preserves a moment that captures the unique character of this coastline and the creatures that inhabit it.
Love Wine? Love Norfolk?
Beyond original paintings, I've created a range of organic cotton t-shirts, hoodies, and jumpers that celebrate my two passions - Norfolk's coastal beauty and a proper glass of wine. Born from lockdown boredom with boring gifts, these designs range from "Champagne Happy Hour" hoodies to my signature Norfolk tote bags.
Whether it's wine-themed tees that spark conversation or coastal-inspired jumpers perfect for Norfolk walks, each design reflects the joy of life's simple pleasures - all made sustainably with organic cotton and ethical production.

Art & wine: a natural pairing
You might wonder why I work as both an artist and a wine educator. In truth, these passions share the same foundation: the joy of sensory appreciation.
A glass of wine is a conversation maker, storyteller, and time capsule that evolves with each experience. Similarly, a landscape painting transports you to a place, evokes memories, and captures the essence of a specific moment while remaining timeless.
Both celebrate how beauty exists in the eye of the beholder, creating personal connections that deepen over time.
